City firms continue to post high retention rates

More city firms have revealed high retention rates with international firms Norton Rose Fulbright and Pinsent Masons the latest to reveal figures at 80% and above.

Pinsent Masons kept on 80% of its cohort, offering 47 jobs to 59 trainees.

At Norton Rose Fulbright 17 out of 20 trainees were kept on, giving it a retention rate of 85%.

White & Case said it will retain 75% of its trainees, with 15 out of a total intake of 20 accepting positions at the firm.

At Berwin Leighton Paisner the retention rate stands at 65%.

Twenty trainees entered into the programme in London and Hong Kong, with 18 completing the process. The firm offered 16 contracts and 13 trainees accepted.

Anthony Lennox, training principal at the firm, said: ‘Qualifying is a huge milestone for lawyers and we’re pleased to welcome the 13 NQs who have joined our firm.’
