Law firm M&A deals continue apace

mardi 1 novembre 2016

Law firm merger and acquisitions show no signs of slowing down with the latest developments in London and Yorkshire.

London firm Gordon Dadds announced today that it is merging London-based UK immigration specialist Platt & Associates with its existing employment team, adding two directors and four fee-earners.

Platt & Associates specialises in all aspects of immigration, nationality and work permit matters, both within domestic and EU immigration law.

The combined firm will be known as Gordon Dadds.

The newly formed employment and immigration team will be led by Gordon Dadds partner Laura Livingstone and based at the firm’s Agar Street office in London.

Gordon Dadds managing partner Adrian Biles said: 'Our new enhanced employment and immigration team will build on our already market-leading employment practice to offer high-quality immigration advice, an area of law of increasing importance to our clients given the current uncertainties around Brexit.’

Meanwhile Yorkshire firm Switalskis Solicitors is acquiring the clinical negligence and serious injury departments from another Yorkshire firm, hlw Keeble Hawson. One team is expected to be based in Sheffield and one in Doncaster.

The deal will be completed this month.

Earlier this year the Gazette reported that personal injury reforms had fuelled peak levels of law firm M&A activity.

Research published the following month showed seven in 10 respondents stating that they intend to initiate a team acquisition in the next 12 months.
