A City solicitor turned MP has been appointed to the Ministry of Justice’s junior ministerial ranks.
Robert Jenrick (pictured), member of parliament for Newark, has been confirmed as parliamentary private secretary to lord chancellor Liz Truss, doubling the number of qualified lawyers in the team.

Jenrick was elected to parliament in 2014, becoming the first Conservative to win a by-election for 25 years.
He was born in Wolverhampton in 1982 and after graduating from Cambridge studied law at the College of Law and BPP Law School before joining international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where he qualified in 2008.
He advised businesses and governments on corporate law in London and Moscow.
His appointment provides a thread of continuity with Truss's predecessor Michael Gove, under whom he served as PPS from May 2015.
The only other qualified lawyer in Truss's team is Lord Keen of Elie, advocate general for Scotland, who speaks for the MoJ in the Lords.
